Back for the first time? Or something like that.. let’s get to it!

The Winners

Nike Oregon Project – Mary “Hurricane” Cain is a Goddess among women, although she’s not officially a member of NOP. Mo Farah won another gold in the 10,000m, and has a beautiful new PR in the 1,500m, 3:28.81!!! 3:28.81. It looks so good it deserves its own sentence, They’ve got a new website and sell some generic sweet merch. They also added Jordan Hasay, hopefully her professional career is a bit more fulfilling than her collegiate one.. although she is very accomplished, but I mean who wouldn’t want to improve. Right? Oh yeah, Mary Cain will be running in the 1,500m Final tomorrow (she’s frigggin 17, her potential is through the roof), Galen Rupp and Mo Farah will be running in the 5,000m Final on Friday, and Matt Centrowitz (sportin a fresh cut) will be running in the 1,500m Semi Final on Friday as well.

clearly a photoshop expert..

clearly I’m a photoshop expert..

The Eaton Family – First things first, their baby will probably score like 9300+ in decathlon and/or 7500+ in the heptathlon. And even after Brianne attempted murder, Ashton still married her. Don’t you just love that awkward shift? And then they won Gold (Ashton) and Silver (Brianne). Ashton is fresh off of a WR in London and Brianne just PR’d with a 6530. The future is hella bright for this couple.

Tirunesha Dibaba – Undefeated at 10,000m. 5 Golds at 10,000m. The end.

Nick Symmonds – Finally won that elusive medal, congrats on the World Silver Medal!!!! You deserve it. Not only that, dudes a pretty big advocate of Equality.

if only..

if only..

US Mens 400 Runners – After a disappointing showing in London, LaShawn Merritt and Tony McQuay have restored all hope in US 400 Operation Domination.

–> LaShawn Merritt (11.1, 10.1 [21.2], 10.6 [31.8], 11.9) (21.2/22.5) <—- a 10.1 split tho?? dudes ridiculous.

–>Tony McQuay (11.1, 10.6 [21.7], 11.1 [32.7], 11.7) (21.7/22.7)

Blackman & Robbin'

Blackman & Robbin’

Alan Oliveira – Is this the face of the Rio 2016 games? I think yes. If not at least he has got the para-athlete WR for the 100m and 200m.

The Losers

DruggiesTyson Gay, Asafa Powell, Sherone Simpson, Veronica Campbell-Brown, Kelly-Ann Baptiste, the entire Turkish team, Alice Decaux… and there are definitely more to come. A lot of disappointed track fans worldwide, I just wish they’d stopped making excuses and be 100% transparent. SORRY, y’all get no pics. At least not today lol.

Amantle Montsho – She got out-leaned by like one thousandth of a second. Leanin’ back has been outta style since Fat Joe got skinny.. #sorryboutit

.. I can't

.. I can’t **(sidenote, Christine Ohuruogu resembles Dwain Chambers in this pic)

Injured athletes – Yohan Blake – defending 100m World Champ is out nursing a hamstring injury, Ryan Bailey – hamstring strain, Bershawn Jackson – tore hamstring at World Champs in 400m Hurdle Semi Final, Angelo Taylor – ???, Brandon Byram – pulled up in 200m Semi Final at US Champs, Christophe Lemaitre – tore hasmtring after running the 100m Final at World Champs, he slipped after finishing according to his camp, Bryshon Nellum – strained hamstring Thank God 2014 isn’t a major outdoor championship year. 2013 may forever go in history as the year of the hamstrings revolted.

LoLo Jones – Although she is an accomplished multi-sport athlete, she kinda makes it easy for people to hate her. She is always in the news which means her PR people are doing their job.. but she seems a bit desperate for attention —–> Whining, Fighting, and Making Light of a Sensitive Issue. LoLo is a very beautiful competitor; at least she’s got that going for her.

<3

Oscar Pistorius – It sucks to have your WR’s shattered while you are on a hiatus; not being able to do shiiit about it for the foreseeable future only adds insult to injury.

The Rest

Sanya Richards-Ross – I understand that reality TVs the new thing to do, but……… really tho? Team SRR.. get yo money, baby. Regardless, I’ve seen every episode and plan on continuing. Good luck with your foot!

Gunnar Nixon – this kid is cool. He allegedly smokes weed.. regardless, dude has a helluva lotta potential. If he’s a stoner, that just makes his accomplishments even more impressive.

cute pic, bro

cute pic, bro

Ashley Spencer – 2012 and 2013 NCAA 400m Champion. 3rd place at 2013 US Champs. The future is looking super bright for her. She’s even on Twitter.

Brandon Johnson – Who? Oh yeah, that 400m Hurdle guy who is now a world class 800m runner. Dude is legit. I guess I’m starting to believe in reincarnation or something along those lines.

1:43.84.. Actions Speak Louder Than Words

1:43.84.. Actions Speak Louder Than Words

Oregon 1500m guys (not named Centrowitz) – McNamara – its time to make a championship team.. what else is there?, Acosta – 2014 would be a great year to make a comeback, Wheating – umm -_- we miss ya…

Duck Domination

Duck Dynasty Domination

Jacques Borlée – He had 3 kids at Moscow World Championships. Jonathan got 4th in 400m, Kevin missed the final by .19 seconds, and Dylan is the new kid on the block. *Dylan lowered his PR from 47.94 to 45.80 in 2013. **his daughter Olivia is also a world class athlete (100m).

the family that runs together, stays together

the family that runs together, stays together

Lol consistency is the key to life and as I try and get everything situated, this blog is one thing that I’d like to update a lot more consistently; it’s pretty fun. Anyways, be on the lookout for the next post which will be out sometime next week-ish lol.

Mens 10K

The Mens 10k should includes at least 1 medal contender for London: Galen Rupp (12:58.90/26:48.00). Without Chris Solinsky in the mix, the next two spots are up for grabs. Injuries in an Olympic year are a bee-yach, so hopefully Chris will be ok, mentally of course.

Finish Him

Dathan Ritzenhein (27:22.28/12:56.27)Recently blogged about training with Galen and Mo and he seems to believe he is close to 12:56 shape. He has the A standard in the 5K, but is a few seconds off of it in the 10K. Has the sixth fastest American 10K time this year. He is undecided about if he will double or just chose one, but if the race is paced correctly, he could easily get the 10K A standard. Oh yeah, he just barely missed being on the Olympic Marathon Squad with a 4th Place finish 😦

Matt Tegenkamp (27:28.22/12:58.56)Track and Field’s “Token Ginger“, Tegenkamp is a hoss. He was 2nd at US Championships last year, although he has been quoted saying’ ‘I will never run a 10K”. He was the first American to break 13 minutes for 5K, and now he has decided to move his talents to South Beach the 10K, a la LeBron James (see what I did?). He has the A standard in both the 5K and the 10K, may go for double.

i NEED that singlet

Chris Derrick (27:31.38/13:19.58): Did not show up for the NCAA Championships. Ran a 27:31 late-April and then ran a 28:17 in June. Chris, if your goal was to get on the medal stand, CONGRATULATIONS! Clearly a talented athlete but his inexperience may not play in his favor.

Don’t listen to the haters, do you Boo Boo, do you

Scott Bauhs (27:48.06/13:28.92)Truthfully never heard of the guy until today.  But, he was 3rd at US Championships last year, and for that you get a picture. Young guy with a lot of good experience, check his Wikipedia for more info. He is one to be reckoned with.

Goldie Effin’ Locks

Tim Nelson (27:31.56)see Scott Bauhs, because they look alike, because they are white, because he is another relatively young guy with a lot of good experience. He gets to train with Tegenkamp and Solinsky and Lomong and so unless he is injured, you can’t count him out.

Brent Vaughn (27:40.21/13:18.46): has the 3rd fastest time this year for 10K, that’a about it. But he clearly has talent.

Bobby Curtis (27:24.67/13:18.97): sub 4 miler, so he’s got the speed, maybe? He was 4th at last years US Championships, so expect him to be in the mix this year.

My Predictions: Kinda difficult

Rupp, Tegenkamp and Ritz (based solely on what he said about training with Rupp/Farah. If you lied Dathan I will be upset) will be reppin’ good ole ‘merica in London

OTC Eugene vs Oregon Project vs OTC Portland

OTC Elite vs Oregon Project vs Wisconsin University OTC Portland

Sooo, if any of you are like me, you have absolutely no idea WTF is going on with Oregon professional running circle. I thought there was one OTC, they all wore the same jersey at one point, so it made since that they were all a big team. But then I start hearing different coaches names and shxt about different groups, and so, I Google’d it.. And then I found out that Alberto Salazar’s group became the Oregon Project. And Now OTC has two official branches, one group trains in Eugene with Mark Rowland and the other group trains in Wisconsin Portland with Jerry Schumacher. So who runs the state?

Hi Gorgeous can I leave my eyes wit ya?

Peep the Tat.

YMOTC

So then comes the problem of sorting runner…who goes where??

Schumacher’s Group – Matt Tegankamp, Chris Solinsky, Evan Jager, Lopez Lomong, Andrew Bumbalough, Shalane Flanagan, and Kara Goucher.

Shalane Flanagan looking right

We're #1

Czech out that nose!!

Wearing a skullcap is like un-circumsizing your penis. Oh hai, Lopez.

Damn, that's messed up. Sha-Sha, you know you sexy

Al Sal’z Group – Galen Rupp, Alan Webb, Mo Farah, Dathan Ritz…., Matthew Centrowitz, Ciaran O’Lionard, and Kara Goucher.

Very Diverse.

Ritz may be old, but he put it on J-Mac

Peter Pan & Shaun White

Ebony & Ivory

Rowland’s Group – Jordan McNamara, Ashton Eaton, Jesse Williams, Andrew Wheating, AJ Acosta (trains with Wheating/Brown), Nick Symmonds, Sam Chelanga, Tyler Mulder, Sally Kipyego, Jemma Simpson, and Russell Brown. (Missing lots of people)

Must be legit, they have a team pic

#winning

Sally Kipyego and her brother husband.

Jesse Williams, your Linus is showing.

Needless to say, all three groups are very talented, but which group is better?

They all have:

  • poster boy’s (Solinsky, Rupp/Centrowitz, Symmonds/Wheating)
  • token black guy’s (Bairu/Lomong, Farah, Chelanga/½ McNamara/½ Mulder/possibly ¼ Eaton)
  • very fast women (Goucher/Flanagan, Rupp, Kipyego)
  • insane hair (Jager – Locks golder than Goldie’s, O’Lionard – Mullet of Champions, McNamara – Waves that make you seasick)
  • Daegu WC Medalist’s (Flanagan, Farah, Centrowitz, Williams, Eaton, Kipyego)

OTC Eugene > Oregon Project > OTC Portland

OTC Eugene is just too much, they have the distances covered from 800 to 10K, they have field events and Jemma Simpson is hot. If Oregon Project would have kept Kara Goucher, they’d most likely be the winners. OTC Portland is two ladies away from being a sausage fest.

Maybe Coach Li needs an OTC Arizona?

Lawi Lalang vs. Chris Derrick

Lawi Vs. Chris

Last Spring when Lawi Lalang placed 2nd at the NCAA Outdoor Championships for 5000m, he was not really on anyone’s radar. The freshman was an All-American during the indoor season in the DMR and 3000m. He initiated the beef the day he hoped on his plane and flew to America. He knew exactly what he was doing.

let you win, because you are African.

And then, XC happened. Lawi Lalang went undefeated and broke numerous course records on his way to the NCAA Championship.

his stride is excellence.

the last time Lawi lost to a non African. Centro went on to win Bronze in Daegu.

Chris Derrick has been a great loser very consistent runner these past 4 years. He has multiple All-American awards for TAF and XC. He has raced against the likes of Sam Chelanga, Galen Rupp and Lawi Lalang. Unfortunately for him, he does not win when it counts. But he has and that what counts; because at the end of the day, the hardware does not matter. At least according to the person who started this thread… http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=4486836&page=0 .

Thumbs Up if you like losing. Quotes don't lie.

"Looks enough like Lalang to me!" - Chris Derrick

At the 2012 NCAA Indoor Championships, Lalang and Derrick faced off again! First in the 5000m, Lalang and Derrick battled throughout the race and in the end, Lalang was just too strong for Derrick, winning with a Meet Record of 13:25.11 to Derrick’s 13:26.88.

All I do is win, WIN, wIn

The two competitors had a day to rest up and prepare for their battle over 3000m the next day, it would be an epic battle. Lalang and teammate Stephen Sambu controlled the majority of the race, but Derrick was not very far behind. At around 800m, Derrick made his first move to pass by Sambu and make his way around Lalang. He and Lalang traded the lead until the last 200m when Lalang summoned a kick that would give Bernard Lagat (circa 2006) a run for his money. But Derrick stayed on him and forced Lalang to run all the way through the line. Lalang ran a 7:46.64 and Derrick ran a 7:46.81. Valiant effort by both competitors, but Lalang again came out victorious.

should've gone to Oregon

Got'cho AZZ

And so that means ____________ is going to happen outdoor?

Well there are a couple of things that can happen:

  • Lalang will go pro, Derrick wins.
  • Lalang does not go pro, Lalang wins.
  • Lalang gets injured, Lalang wins.
  • Derrick can’t deal with constant failure, drops out, Lalang wins.
  • Lalang wins, but Derrick has so much , it explodes.

Upside down Swoosh, SWAGGGG

What the future holds?
  • Derrick signs with the OTC Eugene, because Schumacher and Salazar do not deal with scrubs, because he is on the west coast and his talents will be a better fit being able to train with Mcnamara and Chelanga
  • Maybe the US will buy another Kenyan convince Lalang to gain US Citizenship.
  • Derrick should make some World Championship teams, might even medal, never Gold.

get'cho game face on

Their heads are shaped the same...

Derrick < Lalang

Rupp vs. Solinsky

This is probably the biggest TAF rivalry in recent years. And even if it isn’t, I am the moderator and what I says goes. With that being said, lets loook at some facts…

Peter Pan vs The Cheese Steak

Solinsky has the 10,000m AR of 26:59.60.

I just kicked Rupp's Ass

Rupp is the current KING AR holder of the 10,000, 26:48.o0

Alberto touches me..

Since I don’t have time want to do head-to-head comparisons, lets compare stats:

1500m

3:39.14 (Rupp) 3:35.89 (Solinsky)

One Mile

3:57.72 (Rupp) 3:54.10 (Solinsky)

3000m

7:43.24 (Rupp) 7:34.32 (Solinsky)

5000m

13:06.86 (Rupp) 12:55.53 (Solinsky)

10000m

26:48.00 (Rupp) 26:59.60 (Solinsky)

Now I am no genious, but it seems to me that the longer the distance, the better chance Rupp has. So probably anything 10K and up is all Rupp and 9999m and below is all Solinsky. But it is said that Rupp can run a 10.9 100m, so maybe if he would man up, he could do a bit better in the shorter distances.

In comparison, Solinsky > Rupp. But Rupp currently holds two AR’s to Solinsky’s one zero. Also, Solinsky is recovering from hamstring surgery which will probably keep him from ever reaching the heights that he has once reached. (I hope he does though because American Distance Running is getting very interesting)

Final Verdict: Rupp > Solinsky. You can’t fvck with AR’s.

Definitions:

  • AR- American Record.

* shoutout to EatRunSwag for coining the term Peter Pan. some LetsRun poster for calling Solinsky a Cheese (he is from Wisconsin) Steak (he is a very hearty size, for a distance runner).

Beef is just BAD for Business!

Welcome to TrackBeef. This site is dedicated to giving you the juiciest rivalries in the TAF industry. We are dedicated to serving you the freshest, and sometimes not so fresh TAF gossip.

OOOH SCANDALOUS!

So let’s get things rolling, first things first lets start with some definitions (brought to you by UrbanDictionary.com):

  • Beef – to have a grudge with another person.
  • OMGz’d – The phrase “Oh My God” with a “gay” lisp. (because I am homosexual)
  • TAF – Track and Field

OMGz'd sooo gangster. NOT

Shit gets serious on the oval
