Womens 100m

Lets be real, there are only 4 3 real “contenders” in the Womens 100m, and they are nothing to play with.

Allyson Felix (10.93): She has been American Track and Field’s poster child since she graduated high school. Anyways, she is hella fast and is looking to get 2 Gold medals at this game (100/200). But seriously, she is what they wanted Marion Jones to be. I would say she is the closest thing to 2000 Marion Jones ever, if she trains for the 100, 200 or 400 she could win them at any level.

Nike looks good on you, Allyson

Carmelita Jeter (10.67): The 2nd Fastest Woman…EVER! She missed the finals of the US Trials in 2008, but has made every major championship since then, winning Gold in the 100m in 2011. She is 32, but seems to not be slowing down significantly, 10.70 in 2011 and 10.81 in 2012.

she RaTcHeT

Kimberlyn Duncan (10.96): The NCAA Runner-up over 100m, and the NCAA Champion over 200m, Duncan is flat out talented. Her loss in the 100m was a bit of a shock, because she went into the meet with world class times. She is only a junior in college so expect an amazing career out of her. She scratched :/

The Tigers have something to look forward to next season

Tianna Madison Bartoletta (10.97): Originally a long jumper; had a stellar Indoor campaign and since then, I’ve had my eye on her. She is has a great start, and she has great top-end speed. Earlier this month she whooped up on Jeter and Felix at the Adidas Grand Prix, beating them by .08 and .10 respectively.

Ditch the Pit

My Predictions:

Madison, Jeter, Felix will be donning the in reppin’ the Land of the Free

KD vs. Symmonds

Nick Symmonds vs Father Time Khadevis Robinson

One of TAFs biggest rivalries has been brewing for the past 6 years. It all started in Indianapolis, IN where the 2006 Outdoor National Championships were held. A virtually unknown D3 runner, Nicholas Symmonds was going up against a decent field, but more importantly, the reigning 800m Champ from 2005, Khadevis Robinson. To nobodies surprise, Robinson won by over a second, but everyone was surprised to see the “rookie” “unattached” runner Symmonds grab 2nd place. Who was this kid? The world was about to find out.

He' a bo$$ and he knows it

In 2007 (the last year KD has beat Symmonds at Outdoors) Robinson kicked Symmonds a$$ again, this time it was still a little closer, Robinson got slower (1:44.37) and Symmonds got faster (1:45.17).

Can you see Symmonds, does it matter? Look at Lomong...

IDK WTF happened, LOL but in 2008, Symmonds and his butt buddies fellow Oregon runners decided to cut KD completely out of the picture. Symmonds was 1st in 1:44.10, Andrew Wheating was 2nd in 1:45.03, TeenWolf© Christian Smith was 3rd in 1;45.47 and KD came in (*gasps*) 4th in 1:45.53. Sh!t was insane!!!

Dat Sh!t Cray

check the pose, this guy is Swaggin' like a (insert something witty here).

2009 rolled around and KD kinda got the juice back and got a respectable 2nd at Outdoors (1:45.97). Unfortunately for him, Symmonds won (1:45.86), again. A LEGEND was born.

Lean wit it, Rock wit it

In 2010, Symmonds continued his winning ways whipping a terrible watered down field to win his 3rd straight US Title. KD didn’t even show up, he had $$$ on his mind, no Olympics or World Championships to worry about so he rabbited like it was going out of style.

Sick Kit. LIVESTRONG!
*notice, he is wearing sprint spikes. Nike Zoom JAs. Hope hes got a custom spike plate.

Symmonds started the year off slowly and KD started it off with a bang, defeating a stellar field in Rome to win a Diamond League race, which is a HUGE deal.

Bet there's fried chicken at the finish line. (It's cool, I'm black)

Apparently all good things come to an end and all bad things do to because, Symmonds won the US Title for the 4th time in a row (1:44.17), KD came up short and got runner up (1:44.49).

Why is there another African at the US Champs? Thats not Bernard Lagat

That brings us to 2012. It’s shaping up to be a great Olympic Trials, will KD make another Olympic Team? Will Symmonds win another US Championship? Will either of them make the team? With all these new guys, its hard to say. One thing is forsure, Nick Symmonds is selling his body, and apparently he is very expensive. KD is coaching the UNLV distance teams.

A tattoo valued at $11,100. US-freaking-D. Great move Hanson Dodge, you must've been drunk bidding.

Yeah Nick, Im pointing at you. Its On!

Dare to Compare?:

Nicholas Symmonds | Khadevis Robinson

White | Black

28 | 36

1:43.76 | 1:43.68

4 Outdoor Titles (1 Indoor) | 4 Outdoor Titles (4 Indoor)

When it comes to running styles they both have different approaches; KD likes it from the front and Symmonds likes it from the back. KD used to be coached by Johnny Gray, who was notorious for basically sprinting 700m of an 800m and then muscling through the remaining 100, so his running style was no surprise. It did well for him at earlier in his career, until Symmonds came along. It’s crazy because now we see Symmonds tactic used quite often, Wheating, Robby Andrews and even KD has been using that style of running lately. Both are affective, just depends on who your competition is.

Likes it from the back

So when it comes down to it, I believe that _____ is better.

Symmonds > KD

KD has the longevity, but Symmonds has the whole age thing on his side. Symmonds is at or around his prime and KD is slowly fading out. I’m sure we will see both in the representing the US in the Olympics, but this may be KDs last good year.. but really, who knows these things?

Andrews vs. Wheating

Wheating vs. Bert

So what ever happened to that Andrew Wheating character? Maybe with the recent dropping outage turning pro of Robby Andrews, he will be inspired to show his face again.

So heres the story:

A BUSHY eyebrowed freshman, Robby Andrews goes undefeated at 800m during 2010 indoor season. He then caps of his indoor season by nipping Senior, Andrew Wheating at the line in the 800m race at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championships.

my mouth + your logo = Orgasm?

How embarrasing. So Wheating, being the 800m stallion he is disregards the loss because truthfully, only n00bz run indoor. He begins training for the 4×800 at Penn Relays. Of course, being a senior and shit, he won lost? Shit just got serious!!

You ain't Fresh Azimiz

And so the brewing BEEF sets the stage for an epic battle at the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Championships, a battle in which both competitors would come prepared. Wheating brings his gun and Andrews brings a knife. (NEVER bring a knife to a gun fight) Needless to say, Wheating kills Andrews, 1:45.69 to 1:46.83. And then he goes on to win the 1500m race the next day. What a hoss.

Now watch me Superman that ho

Now days, you can find Robby Andrews at UVA, he is currently a Junior DROPOUT! Wheating has been kicking it with his homies, still talking about how he beat Andrews at NCAAs 2 years ago.

Oh, so that's where Kanye got the idea

I beat him because this is how big his pud is.

So who is better?

Wheating owns the better PRs, but Andrews seems to come mentally prepared when the two collide. Although I like both runners, imma have to go with…

Wheating > Andrews

Wheatings 1500m PR is incredible, 3:30.90.

Rupp vs. Solinsky

This is probably the biggest TAF rivalry in recent years. And even if it isn’t, I am the moderator and what I says goes. With that being said, lets loook at some facts…

Peter Pan vs The Cheese Steak

Solinsky has the 10,000m AR of 26:59.60.

I just kicked Rupp's Ass

Rupp is the current KING AR holder of the 10,000, 26:48.o0

Alberto touches me..

Since I don’t have time want to do head-to-head comparisons, lets compare stats:

1500m

3:39.14 (Rupp) 3:35.89 (Solinsky)

One Mile

3:57.72 (Rupp) 3:54.10 (Solinsky)

3000m

7:43.24 (Rupp) 7:34.32 (Solinsky)

5000m

13:06.86 (Rupp) 12:55.53 (Solinsky)

10000m

26:48.00 (Rupp) 26:59.60 (Solinsky)

Now I am no genious, but it seems to me that the longer the distance, the better chance Rupp has. So probably anything 10K and up is all Rupp and 9999m and below is all Solinsky. But it is said that Rupp can run a 10.9 100m, so maybe if he would man up, he could do a bit better in the shorter distances.

In comparison, Solinsky > Rupp. But Rupp currently holds two AR’s to Solinsky’s one zero. Also, Solinsky is recovering from hamstring surgery which will probably keep him from ever reaching the heights that he has once reached. (I hope he does though because American Distance Running is getting very interesting)

Final Verdict: Rupp > Solinsky. You can’t fvck with AR’s.

Definitions:

  • AR- American Record.

* shoutout to EatRunSwag for coining the term Peter Pan. some LetsRun poster for calling Solinsky a Cheese (he is from Wisconsin) Steak (he is a very hearty size, for a distance runner).
