Nike Oregon Project – Mary “Hurricane” Cain is a Goddess among women, although she’s not officially a member of NOP. Mo Farah won another gold in the 10,000m, and has a beautiful new PR in the 1,500m, 3:28.81!!! 3:28.81. It looks so good it deserves its own sentence, They’ve got a new website and sell some generic sweet merch. They also added Jordan Hasay, hopefully her professional career is a bit more fulfilling than her collegiate one.. although she is very accomplished, but I mean who wouldn’t want to improve. Right? Oh yeah, Mary Cain will be running in the 1,500m Final tomorrow (she’s frigggin 17, her potential is through the roof), Galen Rupp and Mo Farah will be running in the 5,000m Final on Friday, and Matt Centrowitz (sportin a fresh cut) will be running in the 1,500m Semi Final on Friday as well.

clearly a photoshop expert..

clearly I’m a photoshop expert..

The Eaton Family – First things first, their baby will probably score like 9300+ in decathlon and/or 7500+ in the heptathlon. And even after Brianne attempted murder, Ashton still married her. Don’t you just love that awkward shift? And then they won Gold (Ashton) and Silver (Brianne). Ashton is fresh off of a WR in London and Brianne just PR’d with a 6530. The future is hella bright for this couple.

Tirunesha Dibaba – Undefeated at 10,000m. 5 Golds at 10,000m. The end.

Nick Symmonds – Finally won that elusive medal, congrats on the World Silver Medal!!!! You deserve it. Not only that, dudes a pretty big advocate of Equality.

if only..

if only..

US Mens 400 Runners – After a disappointing showing in London, LaShawn Merritt and Tony McQuay have restored all hope in US 400 Operation Domination.

–> LaShawn Merritt (11.1, 10.1 [21.2], 10.6 [31.8], 11.9) (21.2/22.5) <—- a 10.1 split tho?? dudes ridiculous.

–>Tony McQuay (11.1, 10.6 [21.7], 11.1 [32.7], 11.7) (21.7/22.7)

Blackman & Robbin'

Blackman & Robbin’

Alan Oliveira – Is this the face of the Rio 2016 games? I think yes. If not at least he has got the para-athlete WR for the 100m and 200m.

The Losers

DruggiesTyson Gay, Asafa Powell, Sherone Simpson, Veronica Campbell-Brown, Kelly-Ann Baptiste, the entire Turkish team, Alice Decaux… and there are definitely more to come. A lot of disappointed track fans worldwide, I just wish they’d stopped making excuses and be 100% transparent. SORRY, y’all get no pics. At least not today lol.

Amantle Montsho – She got out-leaned by like one thousandth of a second. Leanin’ back has been outta style since Fat Joe got skinny.. #sorryboutit

.. I can't

.. I can’t **(sidenote, Christine Ohuruogu resembles Dwain Chambers in this pic)

Injured athletes – Yohan Blake – defending 100m World Champ is out nursing a hamstring injury, Ryan Bailey – hamstring strain, Bershawn Jackson – tore hamstring at World Champs in 400m Hurdle Semi Final, Angelo Taylor – ???, Brandon Byram – pulled up in 200m Semi Final at US Champs, Christophe Lemaitre – tore hasmtring after running the 100m Final at World Champs, he slipped after finishing according to his camp, Bryshon Nellum – strained hamstring Thank God 2014 isn’t a major outdoor championship year. 2013 may forever go in history as the year of the hamstrings revolted.

LoLo Jones – Although she is an accomplished multi-sport athlete, she kinda makes it easy for people to hate her. She is always in the news which means her PR people are doing their job.. but she seems a bit desperate for attention —–> Whining, Fighting, and Making Light of a Sensitive Issue. LoLo is a very beautiful competitor; at least she’s got that going for her.

<3

Oscar Pistorius – It sucks to have your WR’s shattered while you are on a hiatus; not being able to do shiiit about it for the foreseeable future only adds insult to injury.

The Rest

Sanya Richards-Ross – I understand that reality TVs the new thing to do, but……… really tho? Team SRR.. get yo money, baby. Regardless, I’ve seen every episode and plan on continuing. Good luck with your foot!

Gunnar Nixon – this kid is cool. He allegedly smokes weed.. regardless, dude has a helluva lotta potential. If he’s a stoner, that just makes his accomplishments even more impressive.

cute pic, bro

cute pic, bro

Ashley Spencer – 2012 and 2013 NCAA 400m Champion. 3rd place at 2013 US Champs. The future is looking super bright for her. She’s even on Twitter.

Brandon Johnson – Who? Oh yeah, that 400m Hurdle guy who is now a world class 800m runner. Dude is legit. I guess I’m starting to believe in reincarnation or something along those lines.

1:43.84.. Actions Speak Louder Than Words

1:43.84.. Actions Speak Louder Than Words

Oregon 1500m guys (not named Centrowitz) – McNamara – its time to make a championship team.. what else is there?, Acosta – 2014 would be a great year to make a comeback, Wheating – umm -_- we miss ya…

Duck Domination

Duck Dynasty Domination

Jacques Borlée – He had 3 kids at Moscow World Championships. Jonathan got 4th in 400m, Kevin missed the final by .19 seconds, and Dylan is the new kid on the block. *Dylan lowered his PR from 47.94 to 45.80 in 2013. **his daughter Olivia is also a world class athlete (100m).

Lol consistency is the key to life and as I try and get everything situated, this blog is one thing that I’d like to update a lot more consistently; it’s pretty fun. Anyways, be on the lookout for the next post which will be out sometime next week-ish lol.

USATF vs The World

I know I know I am late as heck but, better late than never.

Over the past month or so a lot has been going on in the world of track and field. Many countries have been getting their Olympic Trials over with and getting their Olympic Teams finalized. ..here’s what the USATF has been up to… (all of this happened at the trials).

The Fam Debacle: Anthony Famiglietti is a very well established runner, 2 time Olympian to be exact. Famiglietti was three spot/less than a second away from the qualifying standard for the 3,000m steeplechase. Being the reigning US Trials Champion, one would have thought he would be able to make an appeal and be allowed entry into the race. So that’s what he did. He paid $250.00 to have an appeal opened and was literally robbed because he had to beat the results out of the USATF. His appeal to run was denied without adequate reasoning. It may have something to do with his previous sponsors, Adidas, Saucony, and he now runs under his own Reckless Running brand. USATF = another name for Nike. USATF MLDR Glenn Latimer called track fans “little wonks” when replying to emails from Famiglietti and his supporters.

Congrats on the son!!

Thank you, Anthony Famiglietti for following protocol, thank you for trying to give track fans what they deserve, a field of the best runners, and thanks for your relentless fight against the “powers that be”. More on the story can be read on Fam’s Blog.

which brings us to…

Alan Webb: Allowed to run in the 5,000m race because he reps the Swoosh on his chest. He was skipped over 10 runners with faster times than his. He was the slowest in the field by over 10 seconds!! How did he get accepted into an event he had no chance of making it to London in? He didn’t even have the A standard in his marquee event (1,500m) and he didn’t make the Olympic team in 2008. How did he get his appeal accepted? He went on to run a 14:01, one place away from DFL in the qualifying round! He then pulled out of the 1,500m.

Alan Webb rockin’ the REEBOK!! *gasps*

Congrats on the daughter!!

Brooks Running: 4 Brooks employees including their CEO were escorted from the US Trials. It was insane, Nike has a monopoly on every market for most major sports, and track and Field is a major sport so why not monopolize it? Nike in London.

Brooks = Bad Azz

Brooks = Bad Azz

Read more on the Brooks story here USATF kicks out Brooks Employees.

Allyson Felix/Jeneba Tarmoh: Damn! This was the biggest story at the Trials. Bigger than Ashton Eaton’s WR, bigger than Lolo Jones’ butt scratch that, she has NO ASS!

told ya

You can’t script shizz like this…or can you? Cycle back a few weeks ago to the Women’s 100m Final, Felix in lane 2, Tarmoh in lane 1. BANG, the gun goes off and Allyson Felix has a terrible start (Nike’s worst nightmare seeing how Felix is their poster child). Tarmoh, also a Nike athlete, has an amazing start and looks to be in the lead for the first 30m of the race. Felix’s strength brings her back into the race as she attempts to catch Tarmoh for the 3rd and final spot on the US Olympic 100m team. Just like that it’s over, Jeter in 1st, Madison in 2nd, and Tarmoh in 3rd with a 11.07, Felix came in 4th with an identical time. Fast forward a few minutes later and BAM, we have a tie! NEVER in my life have I heard of a tie on such a big stage for track and field. So what is to be done? Can all 4 athletes go to London in the open 100? Will they have to draw straws? Will there be a runoff? After days of anticipation, Felix and Tarmoh agree on a run-off that will take place on the last day of the Trials. in the meantime, Felix goes on to win the 200m in 21.69!! Tarmoh comes in 5th in 22.35. Regardless of the outcome of the run off both runners will go to London as a part of the 4×100 relay team and since Felix just won the 200m, you would think that she would pull out of the runoff and allow her friend/training partner to have the final spot in the 100m. Weeellll, she didn’t; Allyson was being greedy, do you blame her? Needless to say Tarmoh decided that her heart wasn’t in the right place and pulled out of the runoff herself. A move that made me smile, I must agree.  Not because Felix is now running the open 100m, but because Tarmoh did not let Nike/ABC/USATF make more money off of her; they made such a big deal about it and at the last minute she pulled the plug. Sucks to suck!

tie?

The results as of 7/21/2012

The moral of the post is: if you aren’t apart of Nike, you’re basically screwed. If you are not a top name at Nike, you’re basically screwed, and if you don’t  you may be SOL.

Oh, so that’s how it works

Eaton vs Hardee

Hardee vs Eaton

First of all. it’s GREAT to be back. School sucks, it;’s very time consuming and at the end of the day, I just could not muster the energy to put together a couple of sentences.

Anywho….

… The Decathlon, absolute fvcking hell, a combined event consisting of 10 track and field events. It is an event created for people who are not great at one specific event, but consistent at around 8 events.

Told ya

Sad Fact: I cannot name a Decathlete outside of the US: Dan O’Brien, Bryan Clay, Trey Hardee, Ashton Eatin’. *notice 3 of 4 named are bi/tri/quad-racial. Coincidence or Conspiracy???

Pika!?!

Ashton Eaton is a MONSTER. He is a WR holder(Heptathlon), and he is possibly not even in the prime of his career. His strengths are the running events. He has 45 second 400m and 10-low 100m speed. He isn’t too shabby at the Long Jump, but his major downfall is the throwing events. He doesn’t suck, but he has work w3rk to do.

Smell ya l8tr

And then there was Trey Hardee. The Trey Hardee. 2-time World Champion Trey Hardee. Vestavia Hills, AL’s Finest. Trey is also an amazing athlete. He is Kobe Bryant to Ashon Eaton’s Lebron James. He performs when it counts.

Looks about right to me.

Unlike Eaton, Hardee excels in the throws; but it wouldn’t hurt if he improved in the running events.

So Let’s look at both athletes PRs Head-to-Head:

James Hardee | Ashton Eaton

100m – 10.40 | 10.26 100m

Long Jump – 7.88 | 8.16Long Jump

Shot Put 15.63  | 14.74 – Shot Put

High Jump – 2.05 | 2.11 – High Jump

400m – 47.51 | 45.68400m

110m Hurdles – 13.71 | 13.35 110m Hurdles

Discus 52.68 | 47.36 – Discus

Pole Vault 5.25 | 5.20 – Pole Vault

Javelin 68.00 | 57.23 – Javelin

1500m – 4:42.23 | 4:18.941500m

Potential PR 9,091 | 9,012 – Potential PR

Silver et Gold

So what do stats really tell us? Stats tell me that although Eaton has a better PR than Hardee in 6 of 10 events, Hardee has a better Potential PR because some of his marks are waaaaaay better than Eaton’s.

That being said, i gotta go with:

Eaton < Hardee . At least for 2K12. Anything after the Olympics is all Eaton. and then Gunnar Nixon

na-na na-na boo-boo

OTC Eugene vs Oregon Project vs OTC Portland

OTC Elite vs Oregon Project vs Wisconsin University OTC Portland

Sooo, if any of you are like me, you have absolutely no idea WTF is going on with Oregon professional running circle. I thought there was one OTC, they all wore the same jersey at one point, so it made since that they were all a big team. But then I start hearing different coaches names and shxt about different groups, and so, I Google’d it.. And then I found out that Alberto Salazar’s group became the Oregon Project. And Now OTC has two official branches, one group trains in Eugene with Mark Rowland and the other group trains in Wisconsin Portland with Jerry Schumacher. So who runs the state?

Hi Gorgeous can I leave my eyes wit ya?

Peep the Tat.

YMOTC

So then comes the problem of sorting runner…who goes where??

Schumacher’s Group – Matt Tegankamp, Chris Solinsky, Evan Jager, Lopez Lomong, Andrew Bumbalough, Shalane Flanagan, and Kara Goucher.

Shalane Flanagan looking right

We're #1

Czech out that nose!!

Wearing a skullcap is like un-circumsizing your penis. Oh hai, Lopez.

Damn, that's messed up. Sha-Sha, you know you sexy

Al Sal’z Group – Galen Rupp, Alan Webb, Mo Farah, Dathan Ritz…., Matthew Centrowitz, Ciaran O’Lionard, and Kara Goucher.

Very Diverse.

Ritz may be old, but he put it on J-Mac

Peter Pan & Shaun White

Ebony & Ivory

Rowland’s Group – Jordan McNamara, Ashton Eaton, Jesse Williams, Andrew Wheating, AJ Acosta (trains with Wheating/Brown), Nick Symmonds, Sam Chelanga, Tyler Mulder, Sally Kipyego, Jemma Simpson, and Russell Brown. (Missing lots of people)

Must be legit, they have a team pic

#winning

Sally Kipyego and her brother husband.

Jesse Williams, your Linus is showing.

Needless to say, all three groups are very talented, but which group is better?

They all have:

  • poster boy’s (Solinsky, Rupp/Centrowitz, Symmonds/Wheating)
  • token black guy’s (Bairu/Lomong, Farah, Chelanga/½ McNamara/½ Mulder/possibly ¼ Eaton)
  • very fast women (Goucher/Flanagan, Rupp, Kipyego)
  • insane hair (Jager – Locks golder than Goldie’s, O’Lionard – Mullet of Champions, McNamara – Waves that make you seasick)
  • Daegu WC Medalist’s (Flanagan, Farah, Centrowitz, Williams, Eaton, Kipyego)

OTC Eugene > Oregon Project > OTC Portland

OTC Eugene is just too much, they have the distances covered from 800 to 10K, they have field events and Jemma Simpson is hot. If Oregon Project would have kept Kara Goucher, they’d most likely be the winners. OTC Portland is two ladies away from being a sausage fest.
